Do I need to create a user account in your system?
Yes, in order to access the CE tests and most of the website features, you will need to
Create an Account.
When I create a user account, there are CE course package options available like Standard, Silver, Gold, Platinum. Which one should I select?
Our Silver, Gold and Platinum CE packages are discounted bundles of CE credits. For example, if you only need 8 CE credits, you would select a Platinum package, if you only need 6 CE credits, you would select a Gold package, and if you only need 4 CE credits, you would select a Silver package.
If you only need 1-2 CE credits or would just like to create a user account in our system, you may create a Standard account. This means you would pay the listed single course price each time you complete a CE test, versus purchasing one of our discounted CE credit packages. You can always upgrade your Standard account to a Silver, Gold or Platinum account at any time by logging in and following the link to Purchase Account Credits."
What if I need more credits than your Silver, Gold, Platinum CE packages offer?
You can recharge your account with more credits at any time by logging in and following the link to Purchase Account Credits, where you will be given the option to add a Silver, Gold or Platinum CE credit package.
You can also purchase credits individually once you deplete the package credits. Platinum, Gold and Silver accounts receive a discount off the listed single course price each time a CE test is completed:
- Platinum accounts receive a 30% discount off the listed single course price.
- Gold accounts receive a 20% discount off the listed single course price.
- Silver accounts receive a 10% discount off the listed single course price.
- There is no single course discount for Standard accounts.
As a Silver, Gold or Platinum Account, do the purchased credits in my account ever expire?
Never! Purchased credits are only deducted from your account when you submit the CE test for grade (regardless of pass or fail).
Do I need use all the credits I purchased with the Silver, Gold, or Platinum package within a certain amount of time?
Credits purchased through the Silver, Gold, Platinum packages do not expire, and can be completed anytime at your convenience, they do not need to be taken all at once. Use what you need this renewal period and save the rest for the next renewal period!
Is every course on this site approved for CE credit?
Every course on our CE Menu has one or more CE approvals for licensing boards or governing bodies. Our Exam Prep and Staff Training Modules are listed on a completely different area of the site, and do not have CE approval.
How do I know which courses have been approved by national organizations like ABO / NCLE, AOA Paraoptometric, COO, NACOR and COPE?
Every course on the Online CE Menu has its approval status listed under the title in green text. If approved by your national organization, simply touch or click the green "ABO," "NCLE," "CPC/AOA," "COO", "NACOR" or "COPE" text to view the approval status for the course. If you do not see your national organization listed, it is not approved.
What if I have a state license in addition to, or in lieu of national certification?
Every course on the Online CE menu has its approval status listed under the title in green text. If approved by your licensing board or governing body, simply touch or click the green text to view the approval status for the course. If you do not see your licensing board or governing body listed in green text, it is not approved.
NOTE: SOME licensing boards and governing bodies only require CE courses that simply meet ABO / NCLE approval or COPE approval, which means the ABO / NCLE or COPE approved courses on our course menu will be accepted. For your convenience, we have posted a complete CE search engine for all Optician licensing boards or governing bodies.
Always check with your licensing board or governing body if unsure.
Is there a way to sort the CE course menu to only show CE courses that are approved by my licensing board or governing body?
YES! Above the Online CE menu, there is a "License / Certification" drop down box. Select your licensing board or governing body and the menu will refresh to show only those approved courses. NOTE: CE courses may also be approved by other licensing boards or governing bodies.
If I am certified and/or licensed by more than one licensing board or governing body, can I get those CE certificates as well?
YES! As long as the course is approved by all your licensing boards and/or governing bodies, or they accept ABO/NCLE as proof of CE. If you see those licensing boards or governing bodies in green text under the course title, upon successful completion of the CE test you will be able to get CE certificates for those licensing boards and/or governing bodies as well.
How do I submit the CE test for score?
After reading the course material, entering all your answers into the online CE test, and rating the course, click the "Submit For Score" button. At this point you will be asked for payment. If you purchased the Platinum, Gold or Silver package and still have credits available on account, select "Use My Account Credits" and the credit amount will be deducted from your available credit balance. Credits are deducted from your account regardless of pass or fail.
At what point do I request my CE certificate?
After selecting a payment option (in the previous step), you will receive your grade. When you pass a CE test and receive your grade, you will be able to select whatever CE certificates are available for that course based on approval status and final score. You must achieve a passing score for your licensing board and/or governing body, which is listed on the last slide of every course.
